The third annual Chili and Bluegrass event is planned for Saturday afternoon and evening on the museum’s grounds. Eleven cooks are currently registered to compete in the 2010 Chili Cook-Off.

A dinner of all-you-can-eat chili and live entertainment will be made available to the public. Cost of admission is $10 per person, with food service starting at 6 p.m. The meal includes a bowl for chili, cheese, crackers, and a drink. Homemade desserts will be available for purchase for an additional charge.
The Gospel Fare, a duo from Van Alstyne, will provide bluegrass, country, and gospel music as guests enjoy their chili.

Following the cook-off, attendees are urged to bring their lawn chairs and sit back and listen to the hot sounds of the God Rush Bluegrass and Gospel Band, Holly Bond and the Bluegrass Texans, and Hannah Kirby. The Bluegrass portion of the evening will be on the museum’s stage beginning at 7 p.m.

In case of rain, the trade days and cooking competition will be conducted at the Alamo Mission, and the dinner and blue grass festival will be conducted at the Young Farmer Pavilion on FM 115 between I-30 and FM 21.
