The City of Mount Vernon will conduct its first quarter clean-up for 2009. Citizens can take trash to the City of Mount Vernon's Maintenance Facility from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 3 and January 5 through10.

Proof of residence is required when bringing items to the dumpsters. Individuals must bring their latest paid receipt for their city services. The city's maintenance facility is located at 925 Holbrook Street (Spur 423), between Andrew and Grady streets.

Items such as refrigerators and air-conditioning units  should have their cooling unit removed. Tires and roofing materials, batteries and commercial refuse will not be accepted. Items such as poisons and liquid paints should be disposed of at a site approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and not these dumpsters.
