Award winning movie Still Alice to be shown

The Academy Award winning movie Still Alice will be shown at 2 p.m. at the Franklin County Library on Tuesday, May 19. It is a free viewing. Due to limited seating, those interested will need a ticket. See the May14 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.

Wine event craft booth deadline is Friday

Area artists and craftsmen are invited to reserve a booth for the Piney Woods Wine Trail Festival in Mount Vernon from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday May 17 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

Still Alice movie to be shown at library

The Franklin County Library will be show the Academy Award winning movie Still Alice on Tuesday, May 19 at 2 p.m. The movie stars Julianne Moore as a linguistics professor.

History comes to life for Night in the Museum

Thirteen students from Mount Vernon Intermediate School’s fifth and sixth grades will be featured as historical characters for “A Night in the Museum.”  The event will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at the Old Firestation and Old Depot museums.
