Third runner up

Kaylee FiteKaylee Fite competed at the National American Miss pageant, also known as the Miss Texas Teen pageant, in Dallas. She placed third runner up out of 137 candidates.

Facilities work days set at arts center

Two facility work days have been set at the Cultural Arts Center by the Franklin County Arts Alliance Board of Directors during their monthly meeting Monday, August 10.

Children’s art sessions continue this Saturday

The second of three free Children’s Summer Art sessions will be Saturday, August 8. All classes will be at the at the Cultural Arts Center, located at 100 Rusk St., one block west of the courthouse. Miss Mount Vernon Pageant both Friday, Saturday

A total of 18 young ladies is vying for crowns in the top three divisions of the Miss Mount Vernon Pageant.The 47th annual Miss Mount Vernon Scholarship Pageant has attracted 38 girls seeking claim to six division titles in two nights of competition. New this year will be escorts for each young lady.

Queen contestants offer tickets

Contestants in the 2015 Franklin County Sheriff’s Posse’s queen competition are offering tickets to help pay expenses related to the contest. The public is invited to the Rodeo Queen Contest Dinner for the speech and modeling competition.

Kids art Saturdays start this weekend

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be hosts for a series of three free Children’s Summer Art sessions. They will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

Art workshop, picnic, and story hour set

The final free Children’s Summer Art sessions will be Saturday, August 15. The class will be at the at the Cultural Arts Center, located at 100 Rusk St., one block west of the courthouse.

Miss Mount Vernon Pageant tickets on sale now

There are 20 contestants vying for titles in the younger three divisions in the Miss Mount Vernon Pageant. It has attracted 38 contestants who will be responsible for selling the tickets.
