Celebrating 20 years

Jack and Betsy Cook, Linda Philhower, Jean Pamplin, Mary Bane, Carol Kober, back row, David Stinson, Christian Galloway, Mozelle Robertson, Jacque Bateman, Michelle Chitsey, Beverly Strange, and Sandy Dennis.Current and past members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance gathered Friday, May 1 to celebrate the organization’s 20 years of providing art to the community.

Wine event craft booth deadline is Friday

Area artists and craftsmen are invited to reserve a booth for the Piney Woods Wine Trail Festival in Mount Vernon from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday May 17 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

Adler and Hearne to perform at NTCC

Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne will perform a free concert at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at Northeast Texas Community College on Monday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m.

History comes to life for Night in the Museum

Thirteen students from Mount Vernon Intermediate School’s fifth and sixth grades will be featured as historical characters for “A Night in the Museum.”  The event will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2 at the Old Firestation and Old Depot museums.

Earth, Mother’s Day art workshop Saturday

Members of the Franklin County Arts Alliance will be hosts for an Earth Day/Mother’s Day art workshop. The free event will be Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cultural Arts Center.

Arbor Day to be celebrated with plaza tree planting Friday

The eighth annual local Arbor Day celebration will be sponsored by members of the Mount Vernon Main Street Alliance and the City of Mount Vernon staff. The event has been set for 4 p.m. Friday, April 24.
