Veterans groups to serve early Thanksgiving dinners

Local veterans organizations will be hosts for community Thanksgiving dinners this weekend. Members of  the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for Post 243 will be hosts for a dinner at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 21 at the post hall on CR SE4265, south off FM 21.

Christmas parade set, vendor booths available

Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is around the corner, and planning for the annual Christmas parade has commenced. The date has been set for Saturday, December 6 with the parade beginning at 11 a.m.

AARP to meet November 18

The Franklin County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3703 will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18 at the Senior Citizens Center. Paul Fletcher will be the host.

Thanksgiving dinner set at Veterans of Foreign Wars

Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3992 will be hosts for a community Thanksgiving Dinner Saturday, November 22.  Serving begins at 6:30 p.m. at the post hall on FM 3122, just west of FM 3007.

Ben Newcomb claims 2014 Aggie Ring Wing Ding title

Ben Newcomb, First Place Winner; Robin Simmons,  Second Place; and Keely Sheets, Third Place.Ben Newcomb took the top honors at the  third annual Aggie Ring Wing Ding Thing on Saturday, November 8. The event raised almost $500 to help fund a college graduation ring for a local area Texas A&M student.
