The Mount Vernon Optic-Herald will have an early deadline of noon Monday, Dec. 29 for the Thursday, January 1, 2015 newspaper. All news and stories must be submitted to the office before noon. See the December 25 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.

Hope Ministries opens The Landing

Hope Ministries of Northeast Texas has recently open The Landing event center in Mount Pleasant. The rentable event center is open to anyone in the community and is rated for 200 people.

Pictures needed for Macon Cemetery book

Members of the Macon Cemetery Association are working on a book about the cemetery. “We need help, especially pictures of ones buried at Macon, and if they were in the military, we would like a picture in uniform,” Lera Owens, one of the organizers, said.

Trash pick up days changed for holidays

Genealogical Society to induct 2015 officers

The induction of officers for 2015 will be conducted during the December meeting  of the Franklin County Genealogical Society. The meeting will be Monday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the Century Room on Kaufman St.
