Two shows left in summer series

The Friends of the Franklin County Library have arranged for two more presentations as a part of their Summer Enrichment Series. The first will be “Whirled on a String,” a demonstration of the spinning arts on Friday, July 11.

Old Saltillo Cemetery’s 2014 Memorial Day Program and annual business meeting will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Sunday, July 20 at the Old Saltillo United Methodist Church.

Prepare pet turtles for Alamo’s derby

Set up the tiny treadmills and concoct a work out regimen to prepare your pet turtle for the eighth annual Turtle Derby. The event is planned for Saturday, July 5 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Alamo Mission Museum. For more information, see the June 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.

Panama Canal is program topic

The Franklin County Historical Association will conduct its bimonthly meeting of the members Monday night, July 7. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. with a covered dish dinner at the Masonic Lodge Hall.
