Burkett to speak on quilts for Historical group

Dr. Deborah L. Burkett of Troup, Texas will bring her expertise in storytelling and knowledge of quilts as she presents the program for the Monday, March 2 meeting of the Franklin County Historical Association.

Barrel racing awards

Tri-County Barrel Racing AssociationThe annual awards banquet for the Tri-County Barrel Racing Association was February 13 at the Pickton Community Center. Members competed in barrels, poles and a lead line class.

Food drive

Kids Under Construction held their annual Food Drive to benefit Franklin County Food Bank in January.  Preschool and school age students collected 1,160 items total.

Carabeth Luckey, Sara French, Collette Shumate, Pat Wommack and Junetta WhitecottenThe Republican Women of Northeast Texas packed decorated boxes full of cookies and delivered them to local sheriff’s and police departments to express appreciation for their hard work.

Alamo officers elected at annual meeting

Officers were elected for 2015 at the annual meeting of the members of the Alamo Mission Museum last month. The 30 members present voted to retain the existing slate of officers.
