Scouting brings families together to build an adventure

National Boy Scout week will be celebrated  by the Boy Scouts of America during the week of February 8. This year’s them is “Adventure is Waiting. Build Yours.”

Scouting values in its oath, law

Boy Scout Troop 271 includes 18 youth  and 12 adult volunteers.Changes are coming to Boy Scouts of America in its 105th anniversary year as all segments of the program return to the Scout Oath and Scout Law used in the Boy Scout program.

Pinewood Derby

Learn fly fishing at fisheries center

The Dallas Fly Fishers will teach morning and afternoon classes for beginning fly-fishers at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center’s (TFFC) Fly Fish Pavilion on Saturday, March 14.

Final week of registration underway for IF: Gathering

The last week of online registration is here for women of Franklin County and the surrounding area to participate in the local IF: Gathering event. The event is set for Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7 at the Mount Vernon Music Hall.

Kid Fishing Day set

Lake Bob Sandlin State Park has scheduled its 26th annual “Kid’s Fishing Day” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 31. The event is open to anglers four to 16 years old.
