“Book of Luke” brought to life at First United Methodist Church

A two person dramatic performance of more than half of the Book of Luke will come to life at the First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon on Sunday, March 29 at 4 p.m.

Poor Boys seek buying teammates

Members are being sought for the Poor Boys buying team to purchase livestock at the annual Mount Vernon - Saltillo FFA and 4-H Project Show on Saturday, March 28 at the Livestock Pavilion located on FM 115.

Mayfield inducted into Hall of Honor

Jacky MayfieldJacky Mayfield was inducted into the East Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor during a banquet February 21 in Texarkana. Mr. Mayfield coached football at Mount Vernon ISD from 2000-2004.

Beginner computer classes announced

Registration is open for a series of  beginner level computer classes that will be offered at the Franklin County Library this spring. The classes will be offered each Tuesday for six weeks starting March 24 at 5:30 p.m.
