Enter games, booths at Alamo Trade Days

Friends and families are urged to make plans now to enter the Redneck Games at the annual Alamo Trade Days event set for Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14 at the Alamo Mission Museum (AMM).

Meal center open for lunch, Tai Chi classes

The Mount Vernon Senior center is open for weekday lunches and is now offering Tai Chi classes. The meal center is continuing to serve meals to seniors and friends. The meal is free for those age 60 and over.

Motorcycle rally added to Alamo events

A full slate of events has been planned at the Alamo Mission Museum (AMM) for their annual Redneck games and Trade  Days events Friday and Saturday, November. 13 and 14.

North Franklin fish fry changed

The date for the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department’s fish fry has been changed to November 21. The date was pushed back two weeks due to scheduling conflicts. See the November 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more  information.

American Legion, Auxiliary to begin holiday food collections

The Mount Vernon American Legion and Auxiliary to Post 243 will begin their collection of nonperishable food items for the 2015 Christmas For All program Monday, November 9.

Genealogy fund raiser has good turnout
