Bryan featured speaker for Genealogical Society

Gene Bryan will be the featured speaker in celebration of Veterans Day at a program presented by the Franklin County Genealogical Society (FCGS) at  7 p.m. Monday, November 20 at the research library at 110 E. Main Street in Mount Vernon.

American Pickers to film in Texas

Monday is deadline for Optic due to holiday

The deadline for news and advertising will be at noon  Monday, November 20 so that the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald can publish early for the papers to be in the mail before the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

The Alzheimer Support Group for the Mount Vernon area will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 16, at the Franklin County Library on the square.

Members of  the American Legion and Ladies Auxiliary for Post 243 will be hosts for a community Thanksgiving Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Friday, November 17, at the post hall on CR SE4265, south off FM 21.

The Community Food Bank of Franklin County, together with the aid of employees at Lowe’s Regional Distribution Center, will again provide Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families of Franklin County.
