Descendants of the Fountain, Templeton and Bell families will gather for their annual  reunion at Little Creek Park, Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m.

Carmon, belonging to Kiley Clauson, claimed the top prize for Best Decorated Turtle at the annual Turtle DerbyCarmon, belonging to Kiley Clauson, claimed the top prize for Best Decorated Turtle at the annual Turtle Derby on Saturday, July 9.  It was painted like lavender with colorful flowers.

EDC approves 2016-17 budget

The Mount Vernon Economic Development Corporation approved their recommended budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year with adjustments in line items to better target areas of need during their quarterly meeting last week.

Miss Rodeo Texas

Lisa Lageschaar was crowned Miss Rodeo Texas 2016 on Thursday, June 23 in San Antonio. She will now compete for the Miss Rodeo America title in December.
