Lions Club charter banquet set

The newly formed Mount Vernon Lions Club will celebrate its establishment with a Charter Banquet. The event is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, January 25 at the First United Methodist Church’s Jennings Hall.

Members of the Franklin County Industrial FoundationMembers of the Franklin County Industrial Foundation gathered for the annual meeting on Friday, January 10. The group listened to a presentation by Tammy Sims of TxDOT as part of their meeting.

Several couples take advantage of the lively musicSeveral couples take advantage of the lively music provided by the band Roger, The Boss Man and Friends at the Denim and Dancing event at the Hagansport Community Center on Saturday, January 4. The event raised $1,210 for the Franklin County Special Olympics

Genealogy meeting set

The Franklin County Genealogy Society will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, January 20 at the research center on Main Street. The program will include a show and tell session. Members and guests are urged to bring family heirlooms or pictures.

Museum board plans annual meeting

The Alamo Mission Museum of Franklin County will conduct its annual membership meeting and potluck dinner at the Cultural Arts Center at 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 14.

Ministering Our Military to meet

ETMC - Mount Vernon is providing free assistance to area residents enrolling in health insurance through the Affordable Care Act’s Health Insurance Marketplace.

It’s cookie time!
