Benefit set for Lappin family

A fishing tournament benefit for the Jay Lappin family has been organized for Saturday, July 30 from 6 a.m. to noon at the old Titus County boat ramp off FM 3417 in Mount Pleasant.

Smallest Turtles - WinnersThe first place award for the Smallest Turtle went to Jordynn Grotsky’s turtle, Tiny at the annual Turtle Derby on Saturday, July 9.  Turtle Derby, belonging to Aubrey Dixon, was second.

The Good Hope Cemetery Association will have its annual Memorial Day Service at the Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church just south of the cemetery on FM 4315 at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 24.

Marilyn Joyce to present program at Genealogy

The monthly meeting of the Franklin County Genealogy Society will be at 7 p.m. Monday, July 18. Marilyn Joyce will present the program based on a diary written by Nancy McCowen Roach Tucker in the mid-1800s.
