A stuffed animal sleep over has been planned at the Franklin County Library for Monday, May 19. “All stuffed animals, dolls, and action figures are welcome to attend,” Director of Library Services Lisa Lawrence said.

Consumers should be wary of phantom bad check scams

The Better Business Bureau has received reports from consumers regarding a recent telephone scam. Individuals are being contacted by telephone under the pretense that the callers are attempting to collect money for hot checks which were written several years ago.

Society plans note burning, program

Members of the Franklin County Genealogical Society will have a note burning celebration on Friday, May 16 at 2 p.m. in front of their building at 110 E. Main St. followed by a reception to honor Kirleen and Calvin Heitt.

North Franklin plans fish fry May 24

Members of the North Franklin Volunteer Fire Department will be hosts for a fish fry on Saturday, May 28 beginning at 5 p.m. Fried catfish with all the trimmings will be served for a donation.

Alzheimer Support Group to meet

The Alzheimer Support Group for the Mount Vernon area will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday, May. 15 at the Franklin County Library on the square. Caregivers, families, and friends are encouraged to attend the event to share information and learn ways to deal with Alzheimers. For more information, call Gary Nelson at 903-431-5508.

The Barton and Banks families gathered at the Hagansport Community Center on Sunday, April 20 for their annual reunion.

Friendship Cemetery meeting planned
