Candidates continue to expend lots of money on election campaigns

E-mail Print

With the March 2 Primary Elections coming around the final turn, candidates in local races have continued to expend funds to obtain their respective places.
A total of $31,148.43 has been spent by those seeking a spot on their respective party’s ballots. Campaign signs have been the big ticket item with $14,573 spent to decorate the roadways of Franklin County. Newspaper advertising has been a distant second with $5,760, and the remainder has  gone for printing, postage, and office supplies.
Campaign financial reports are required to be filed with Voter Registrar Sue Ann Harper at various intervals depending on the amount of donations received and funds expended during the course of a political campaign.
See the Feb. 25 edition of the Optic-Herald for a break down of spending by candidate.
