A new telephone scam has recently been reported. Newspapers in West Texas have received reports that scammers are calling their classified advertising customers, and telling them the newspaper’s computer system crashed. They then request  the customer’s credit card information. Within minutes bogus charges appear on the customer’s account. Please make sure you are speaking with a qualified employee of whatever business you are purchasing from before giving any credit card information over the telephone.
