Junior varsity softball
The Mount Vernon junior varsity Lady Tigers softball team competed in the Longview Tournament March 4-6. They won three games and lost one. For more information, see the March 11 edition of the Optic-Herald.
White Oak Tourney
The Mount Vernon Tiger baseball team competed at the White Oak Tournament Thursday through Saturday, March 4-6. The team lost three games to Spring Hill, Winnsboro, and Harmony.
Big fish
Martin Slaton, 10 year-old son of Steve and Vickie Slaton of Mount Vernon, caught the biggest fish at the annual Kid’s Fishing Day in Pittsburg.
Wind up
