Memorial Day flag retirement Monday

The Mount Vernon American Legion Post 243 will sponsor a Memorial Day and flag retirement ceremony Monday, May 29. Members of the community are invited to attend.

Carry the Load relay tonight

Mount Vernon Boy Scout Troop 271 will be cooking hamburgers on the plaza from 5 to 7 p.m. as they await the arrival of the Carry the Load relay walkers around 6:45 p.m. tonight, Thursday, May 25.

Carry the Load relay coming for sixth consecutive year

The Carry the Load relay will pass through downtown Mount Vernon Thursday evening, May 25 for the sixth consecutive year on its way from West Point Cemetery, N.Y. to Dallas, Texas.
