Promotions announced by First National Bank

Dejah’s stem cell transplant completed Tuesday

Dejah ArnoldThe long awaited stem cell transplant for Dejah Arnold was completed late Tuesday afternoon at Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas. Through it all she has remained upbeat and jovial.

Dr. Curry featured speaker for Black History Month event

Dr. Bishop Curry, IIIDr. Bishop Curry, III will be the featured speaker at the annual Black History Month celebration set to begin at  6:30 p.m. Friday, February 13 in the Cultural Arts Center, 100 Rusk St. in downtown Mount Vernon.

Chamber banquet tickets available

Council eliminates committees

The Mount Vernon City Council eliminated three committees during their Monday, February 9 meeting. The action was led by Councilman Kenneth Shelton for what he called unnecessary groups.
