They had a life size Grinch and a dog to complete their theme. They won first place in the small business category of the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Halloween costume contest. Secret Service Agent to provide look into Kennedy assassination

Retired Secret Service Agent Mike Howard will be guest speaker Saturday for a program sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin County Library. He will provide a unique behind the scenes look into the events of the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Wing Ding Thing entries open now

Entries are being sought for the second annual Aggie Ring Wing Ding Thing set for Saturday, November 9 at the Trey Deuce Domino Saloon on CR SW3010. The entry fee is $10.

East Annex receives Best Overall Theme

Employees at the Franklin County East Annex dressed as characters from Duck Dynasty.The Franklin County East Annex took top honors as the business with the “Best Overall Theme” and was awarded the traveling plaque in the Merchant’s Halloween Dress-Up Contest on Halloween Thursday, Oct. 31.

Leaders needed for annual event

A few good leaders are needed to help plan the 2014 Relay For Life event for Franklin County. The event is set for Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The group is planning a daytime event with the hope for increasing participation.

Food bank donation

Present for the donation were June Weeks, Frankie Capers, David Chaney, and Beverly Strange.Members of the Tall Tree Women’s Coffee Club donated $500 to the Community Food Bank of Franklin County on Thursday, October 24. The money will be used to help the food bank operate and prepare for the holiday season. Present for the donation were June Weeks, Frankie Capers, David Chaney, and Beverly Strange.

Alamo costume winners fourth grade and older division,

Winners in the annual Alamo Mission Museum’s Halloween costume contestWinners in the annual Alamo Mission Museum’s Halloween costume contest were chose on Saturday, October 26. In the fourth grade and older division, first went to Trinity Bogue, followed by Kevin Martinez, Jessie Bailey, Fiona Burton, and Hailee Pingitore.

Jewelry, history, stars featured at luncheon

Jewelry, history, movie stars, literary stars and romance is all rolled into one by Bonny Edmonds. One of her acclaimed Mexican Tales lectures will be featured at the Mount Vernon Main Street luncheon.
