Burn ban lifted after 4.97 inch rain

Franklin County Judge Paul Lovier lifted the ban on outdoor burning Monday, September 23. The action to rescind the ban went into effect upon the judge signing the order at 8:30 a.m.

The removal of the ban was made upon recommendation of Fire Marshal Gerry Allen. His recommendation was spurred by a dramatic change in the drought index and forecast. For more information, see the September 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
