The City of Mount Vernon finished 2013 with an increase in sales tax both for the quarter and for the year. Meanwhile, surrounding cities report nominal gains to dramatic drops for the same period.
The city’s fourth quarter sales tax collections were up by 29.93 percent, $13,835, over the same period last year. The year to date sales tax total was up 13.98 percent, $83,775, over 2012 totals. See the December 26 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald for more details.
