Rainfall almost normal for May, overall deficit remains

The inch of precipitation received during the last week of May filled rain gauges to an almost normal level in Franklin County, but the area continues to be well below normal for rainfall in 2014.

The county received 4.6 inches of rain during May, which brought the year-to-date total to 14.24 inches. For more information about May weather and records set, see the June 5 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
