Franklin County elected officials signed a joint letter of concern to local legislators outlining their alarm that at least two of the bills being proposed present major financial obstacles for smaller counties with the potential to require major job cuts as well as cuts to services if passed.
House Bill 2702, SB 2, as well as several other bills, have the ability to require a variety of unfunded mandates from the state, according to Franklin County Auditor Tina Phillips. For more details about this action, see the March 16 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
