High School UIL team wins sweepstakes

The Mount Vernon High School UIL team garnered more points than the other 14 schools participating and were the Sweepstakes winners at their home practice meet on Saturday, March 21.

Concrete and roadway bids $650,000 over budget

Concrete and roadway bids,  part of the $14 million bond package, came in $650,000 over budget, Superintendent John Kaufman explained to members of the Mount Vernon ISD School Board.

Elementary raises $17,000 for American Heart Association

Fourth grade teacher Kodeann Crawford is pelted by water balloons from all directions after there was 100 percent participation in the American Heart Association fund raising by her students.Students at Mount Vernon Elementary School celebrated raising $17,302.90 for the American Heart Association at the campus wide Heart Rally on Tuesday, March 17.

Students prepare to exhibit at project show

Ground breaking set for new gymnasium

A ground breaking ceremony for the $10.2 million gymnasium and field house at Mount Vernon ISD has been set for 5 p.m. on Monday, March 16. The event will be conducted at the south end of Don Meredith Stadium.
