School bus wreck anniversary Friday

The 58th anniversary of the Mount Vernon school bus wreck will be Friday, September 29. The bus, carrying students and faculty to a football game in Cooper, was hit head on by a salt transport truck near Cooper.

Board approves replacement of auditorium curtain assembly

Danielle Laird thanks Dr. Gregg Weiss and school board members for allowing the community to have a bonfire during homecoming week.Members of the Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees approved a contract to repair the mechanical framework for the auditorium curtain at their Monday, October 9 meeting.

No classes at MVISD Monday

There will be no classes at Mount Vernon ISD on Monday, October 16.“This day is not reflected on the school calendar,” Assistant Superintendent Kathie Thompson said. It will be a professional development day for staff members.
