Cox, Pennington are Rotary Students for October

Mighty Tiger Band earns straight 1’s

The MVISD Mighty Tiger Marching Band earned straight 1’s, a perfect score, at the Northeast Texas Marching Festival in Mount Pleasant on Saturday, October 11.

Saltillo ISD named 2014 National Blue Ribbon School

Kevin WoolleySaltillo ISD was recognized as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon School last week by the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. A total of 287 public and 50 private schools nationwide received the honor with 28 being in Texas.

Duke Talent Search qualifiers announced

Duke Talent Search qualifiersSeventeen Mount Vernon Junior High students qualified for Duke TIPS Seventh Grade Talent Search for the 2014-2015 school year. This search identifies academically talented seventh graders based on standardized test scores.

School bus wreck anniversary Monday

The 55th anniversary of the Mount Vernon school bus wreck will be Monday, September 29. The bus, carrying students and faculty to a football game in Cooper, was hit head on by a salt transport truck at the intersection of Hwy. 154 and FM 54 near Cooper.
