Elementary plans Heart Rally

Students at Mount Vernon Elementary School have been participating in a Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart fund raisers and will celebrate their accomplishments.

More candidates file for school board

Two more candidates filed their application for a place on the Mount Vernon ISD ballot as a School Board Trustee. Brad Hyman and Allison Rios each turned in their application for a seat on the school board last week.

Holt, Blair Rotary Students for February

Kelby Holt and Dylan BlairKelby Holt and Dylan Blair were named Rotary Students of the Month for February at Mount Vernon High School. Miss Holt is the daughter of Karen Holt. Baseball team proud of updated field

The Mount Vernon Tiger baseball team is ready for their 2014 season, and they are glad to have a new backstop and seating for their home field.

Mount Vernon district, all campuses Met Standard

Members of the Mount Vernon School Board learned that the district and each of the four campuses Met Standard for the 2012-2013 school year. With the implementation of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests schools either meet the standard or do not meet the standard.

College Financial Aid session Thursday

A Financial Aid Night information session for seniors and their parents is tonight, Thursday, February 13, from  6 to 7 p.m. in the High School Lecture Hall.

Ables signs with Mary Hardin Baylor

He is the son of Dail and Carol Ables and plans on majoring in physical education and becoming an educator and coach. Board calls for bond, trustee election in May

Members of the Mount Vernon School Board called for both a General School Board Trustee Election and a Special Bond Election for Saturday, May 10. Bob Sehon was the only person during the open forum portion of the meeting to speak against calling the bond.
