School board members recognized for their service

Members of the Mount Vernon School Board were presented with button down shirts with the school logo and gift certificate to a local restaurant in recognition of School Board Appreciation Month.

Million Word Challenge

Kayleigh Stevenson, Lauren Tran, Ben Minter, and  Max Rutledge have read one million words.Students at Mount Vernon Intermediate School have been participating in the Million Word Challenge reading contest since early October. Students were challenged to read one million words in AR testable books throughout the school year.

Rotary Students for December 2013

Siddens brothers place well at 4-H rabbit show

Kristopher and Marcus Siddens  of the Franklin County 4-H Club showed rabbits in several classes at the Texas State 4-H Rabbit Extravaganza in Gatesville and Franklin County 4-H had two individuals compete at the show.

Booster Club presents annual report

Mary Keys reported to school board members that the booster club had provided $17,000 in supplies so far this year.The Mount Vernon Athletic Booster Club has provided $17,000 in equipment for sports programs for Mount Vernon schools this year. Gifts for residents

Members of the Mount Vernon High School Spanish ClubMembers of the Mount Vernon High School Spanish Club visited Mission Manor Nursing Home last week and  distributed gifts to residents. This year marks the fourth year the organization has partnered with Mission Manor and Mount Vernon House to deliver gifts to local residents at Christmas.

School board considers calling for bond election in May

Members of the Mount Vernon ISD Board of Trustees agreed that they should go to voters with a list of needs. The group did not call a bond election, but ironed out a list of items that would be included when they do make it official early next year.
