Nominations sought for School League of Honor

Nominations are being sought for the 2014 Franklin County Schools League of Honor. This is the 12th year for the program, which honors outstanding graduates and employees of the Franklin County Schools in a “League of Honor.”

Baseball team proud of updated field

Saltillo ISD nominated as Blue Ribbon School

The Texas Education Agency announced this week that Saltillo ISD is one of 25 Texas public schools nominated for the national 2014 Blue Ribbon Schools recognition.

Mount Vernon district, all campuses Met Standard

Members of the Mount Vernon School Board learned that the district and each of the four campuses Met Standard for the 2012-2013 school year. With the implementation of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) tests schools either meet the standard or do not meet the standard.

Elementary plans Heart Rally

Students at Mount Vernon Elementary School have been participating in a Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart fund raisers and will celebrate their accomplishments.

Ables signs with Mary Hardin Baylor

Kris Ables is surrounded by family as he signs letter of intent.Kris Ables signed a letter of intent to play football for the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Friday, February 7. He is the son of Dail and Carol Ables and plans on majoring in physical education and becoming an educator and coach. More candidates file for school board

Two more candidates filed their application for a place on the Mount Vernon ISD ballot as a School Board Trustee. Brad Hyman and Allison Rios each turned in their application for a seat on the school board last week.

Holt, Blair Rotary Students for February

Kelby Holt and Dylan BlairKelby Holt and Dylan Blair were named Rotary Students of the Month for February at Mount Vernon High School. Miss Holt is the daughter of Karen Holt.
