Johnson signs with Ouachita Baptist

Family and friends accompany Sarah Johnson as she signs with Ouachita Baptist.Sarah Johnson signed a letter of intent to play softball with the Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark. on Thursday, November 14. She is the daughter of Ron and Gale Johnson and will play catcher and first base for the Lady Tigers.

Family and friends accompany Bailey Bohlken as  she signs with Mary Hardin BaylorBailey Bohlken signed a letter of intent to play softball with the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton, Texas on Thursday, November 14. Bohlken is the daughter of Tony and Dana Bohlken and will play catcher for the Lady Crusaders.

Rotary students of the month announced

Emily Floyd and Chantz JeterEmily Floyd and Chantz Jeter were selected as the Rotary Students of the Month for November at Mount Vernon High School. Miss Floyd is a senior at Mount Vernon High School and is the daughter of Brad and Robin Floyd.

School installs cameras on route buses

During the Monday, November 11 school board meeting, board members were advised that cameras have been installed on all of the Mount Vernon ISD route buses.

Minter takes top honors in Voice of Democracy contest

Jessica Minter, Hannah Johnson, and Madelyn CoxJessica Minter took first place in the local Voice of Democracy Speech Contest, sponsored annually by the Franklin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3992.

Mason Cook  and Yjaharah LeeMason Cook  and Yjaharah Lee were named the Mount Vernon High School Football Beau and Sweetheart during Senior ceremonies prior to Friday night’s game between the Tigers and the New Boston Lions.

Tooth care promoted to first grade students

Masons distributed preventative tooth care kits to 131 first grade  students at Mount Vernon Elementary SchoolLocal Mount Vernon, Saltillo and Winfield first grade students were welcomed to the Fantastic Teeth Fan Club by members of the Mount Vernon Masonic Lodge last  week.
