School board members began the budget process for the 2013-14 school year in a special meeting on Monday, July 22. They spent the bulk of their time circling two key issues, equitable pay raises and funding for a second school resource officer.
At the beginning of the meeting, Superintendent John Kaufman presented a balanced budget for the board with $13,165,547 in both revenues and expenditures. That number is $517,094 higher than the previous year’s budget and based on the same tax rate as in previous years of $.99024 for maintenance and operations For more information, see the July 25 edition of the Mount Vernon Optic-Herald.
