Hahn named chair, Jenkins Vice Chair, and
Huckabee reappointed to Texas Higher Education Board
Harold W. Hahn of El Paso was reappointed and named chair of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Friday, Sept. 13, 2013. Robert “Bobby” Jenkins Jr. of Austin was named vice chair, and Christopher Huckabee of Fort Worth was reappointed to the board.
The board sets policies and coordinates efforts to improve higher education in Texas.
Hahn is chairman and CEO of Rocky Mountain Mortgage, and currently serves as vice chair of the THEBC. He is director of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce, and past vice president and past director of the Yucca Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a member and past director of the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association, a member and past president of the El Paso Mortgage Bankers Association, and a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America and Paso Del Norte Group. Hahn received a bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. He is reappointed for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2019, and will serve as chair of the board for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.
Jenkins is president of ABC Home and Commercial Services. He is a board member of the Austin American Heart Association and Texas A&M University College of Agriculture Development Council, and a board member and past chair of the Austin Alzheimer's Association and Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse. He is also past chairman of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Caritas of Austin, and Austin Independent School District Bond Oversight Committee, and past president of the Better Business Bureau of Central Texas, National Pest Management Association and Texas Pest Control Association. Jenkins received a bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University. He will serve as vice chair of the board for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.
Huckabee is a registered architect and CEO of Huckabee Inc. He is a member of the Texas Society of Architects, Fort Worth Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and Young Presidents’ Organization. He is also a board member and development committee chair of the Cook Children's Hospital Medical Center, a board member of the Cook Children's Health Foundation, and vice chair of the Community Foundation of North Texas. Huckabee received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University. He is reappointed for a term to expire Aug. 31, 2019.
