Funeral services for Gerald Lee Devlin, age 82 of Point, formerly of Mount Vernon, were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at West Oaks Funeral Home chapel with Bro. David Meeks officiating and Donny Meeks assisting.
Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Devlin was born on Oct. 15, 1930 in Bogata to to Charles and Mettie Sue Parks Devlin. He married Doris Biggerstaff on Sept. 4, 1954 in Mount Vernon. He served in the United States Air Force, was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Garland, and was a hospital sales rep for Abbott Laboratories for 32 years.
He died Saturday, July 13 at his daughter’s home in Farmersville. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Charles Devlin, Bob Devlin, Joe Devlin and Jerry Devlin, four sisters, Elizabeth King, Francis Wilcox, Katherine Witcher and Lucille Welch.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Devlin; a son, Larry Lee Devlin of Dallas, a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Meeks of Farmersville; a sister, Dorothy Marcy; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert Meeks, Merle Little, Charlie Rowan, Rusty Blasinggame, Luke Meeks and Chad Maddox. Honorary pallbearers were James Meeks, Harold Bass and John Meeks.
