Graveside services for Henry Cleborn Cupit, age 82 of Commerce, were at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at the Cumby City Cemetery with Bro. David Burns officiating.
Mr. Cupit was born Feb. 19, 1931 to Henry Cupit and Opal Bell Simmons Cupit in Caddo, Okla. He married Billie Margaret Matkins in February 1949. In his early years, he was head mechanic at Dallas Air Motive at Love Field. He moved his family to the small town of Cumby in 1969. He later retired from East Texas State University. He found his higher calling on Jan. 20, 1963 when he accepted Christ as his savior and was called to spread the gospel.
He died on Thursday, Aug. 1. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, V. J. Hunt, and two sisters, Launa Thurman and Laura Clark.
He is survived by his wife, Billie; his daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Kenneth Cummings of Emory and Carolyn and Kenneth Bearden of Commerce; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Paul and Michelle Cupit of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Jeanie Moore of Desoto, Velda Coffey of Whitewright, and Sherry Gibson of Commerce.
Pallbearers were Shon Potter, Kenneth Cummings, Kenneth Bearden, Brine Bearden, Charles Humphries, and Justin Nabers.
