Funeral services for Jo Ann Skidmore, age 80 of the Nelta Community were at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Bailey officiating. Burial was in the Nelta Cemetery in Hopkins County.
Ms. Skidmore was born on Feb. 1, 1933 in the Nelta Community to Grover Cleveland Coleman and Maggie Olive Pierce. She married Louie Othel Skidmore in Hopkins County on July 25, 1949. She worked as a school bus driver and cook for the Sulphur Bluff ISD. She was of the Methodist faith.
She died Sunday, Aug. 11 at Mission Manor Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis Othell Skidmore, a brother, Bob Coleman, and two sisters, Matilda Sue Bland and Cherry Lou Feemster.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Meribess Skidmore of Lancanster; a daughter, Sheryl Skidmore of Sulphur Bluff; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Clayton Skidmore, Samuel Skidmore, Nathan Kaplan, Cody Weaver, Gentry Jaggers, and Terry Jaggers.
