Funeral services for Rev. Larkin Johnson, age 91, were Saturday, Feb. 8, at Pine Street Baptist Church in Winnsboro.
Reverend Yeager was born June 8, 1922, in Lawrence County, Tenn. to Reverend Harvey Lee Yeager and Myrtie Ada Burch Yeager.
He was a retired Southern Baptist preacher, World War II veteran, and former cotton farmer. During the Great Depression, the Yeager family moved from Tennessee to East Texas by train where they lived near Sulphur Springs for seven years.
Rev. Larkin Yeager married Vicie Ophelia Thomas on Oct. 4, 1941. He joined the Navy during World War II and served on the USS Trenton.
Beginning in 1963, Reverend Yeager was the pastor of several churches, in Kansas, Alabama, Cooper, Winnsboro, Edgewood, and Quitman, Canton, and Van.
Rev. Yeager died Wednesday, February 5 at the age of 91.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Winham Elisha “Pete” Yeager, Charles Richard “Chunk” Yeager, Wilford Quentin “Bill” Yeager, and Harvey Leo “Pat” Yeager and two sisters Vileta Anise “Bug” Yeager and Agnes Louise “Lits” Yeager.
He is survived by his wife of over 72 years, Vicie Ophelia Thomas; two sons, Stanley C. Yeager and Timothy Lee Yeager; four grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
