Services for Johnnie Grace Chaney, age 84 of Mount Vernon, were Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline, with Bro. Jerry Pruitt officiating.
Burial was in Starr Cemetery in Van Zandt County.
Mrs. Chaney was born Feb. 27, 1930 in Eldorado, Okla. to James Edward and Ova Sarah Ann Cumbie Moncrief. She spent her early years in Dallas, over 40 years in Grand Saline and the last eight years in Mount Vernon. She was a member of Brookside Baptist Church and loved to play Bingo.
Mrs. Chaney died May 20, 2014 at a nursing home in Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Erbie D. Chaney, in 1984; two sons, Eddy Don Chaney in 1980, and Charles Chaney in 1990; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sharon Chaney of Grand Saline and Gerald and Betty Chaney of Quinlan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Billy Jack Yarbrough of Mount Vernon and Linda Yancey and Virgil Nelson of Murchison; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Phillip Wright, Curtis Wright, Matthew Besherse, Clinton Chaney, Brady Brown, James Sanders, Sr., Timmy Woods and Bryan Chaney.
