Cletus Hugh Brewer, age 80, of Flower Mound, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Flower Mound Assisted Living in Flower Mound, Texas.
Cletus was born on August 22, 1933 in Lawton, Oklahoma to the late Solomon Pickney and Anna Brewer. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Cletus earned his Master’s Degree in Education from North Texas State University and taught the majority of his career at Newman Smith High School in Carrolton, Texas.
Cletus married Beverly Jane Boterf in Stillwater, Oklahoma on June 14, 1957 and together spent the next 55 plus years raising a family and living a lifetime of memories. She preceded him in death on January 28, 2013.
Cletus was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.
Cletus is survived by two sons, Tim Brewer, and wife Carolyn, of Flower Mound, and Steve Brewer, and wife Sharon, of Rosenberg, Texas; four grandsons, Sean Brewer, Austin Brewer, Owen Brewer, and Avery Brewer; one great-granddaughter, Lexie Brewer; and by one brother, Richard Brewer.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Bud Brewer.
Graveside services for Cletus Brewer were at Mount Vernon City Cemetery at 1:00 P.M., Monday, June 16, 2014 with Dr. Jack Wallace officiating.
