Funeral services for Rex Thurman Narramore, age 91 of Winfield, were Friday, July 11, 2014 at Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Lee Cemetery in Winnsboro with Rev. Dwayne Goodson and Dr. Clint Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Mr. Narramore was born in Franklin County on Aug. 27, 1922 to Leslie and Vera Cody Narramore.
He graduated from Winfield High School and the College of Marshall. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a physical education instructor from October 1942 until December 1945 when he was Honorably Discharged.
Mr. Narramore spent five years as principal and head coach at LaPryor High School before entering the food sales business with General Foods Corp. He spent 35 years in the food business in assignments ranging from district manager to regional sales manager at various locations throughout the Midwest and Southwest. He retired from Keebler in 1985 and started a grocery and cafe business in Winfield.
Mr. Narramore died Tuesday, July 8 in Winfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Sue Narramore; two sons, Robert L. (Bob) Narramore and John A. (Andy) Narramore.
He is survived by three sons, Rex L. (Kip) Narramore, Stanley W. Narramore and Terry Narramore; two daughters, Lynda (Jeannie) Coskey and Susan Grubs; nineteen grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert Narramore, Adam Hargrove, Casey Narramore, Ryan Narramore, Sean Narramore and Matt Hargrove.
