Mildred Patricia Blevins Morris

Mildred Patricia Blevins MorrisMildred Patricia Blevins Morris, a long-time resident of Mt. Vernon, passed away on July 8, 2014 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on April 14, 1933 in Ft. Worth, TX to Margaret Lucille Evans Blevins and James Woodrow Blevins, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Emmett Eugene Blevins. She is survived by her husband Ben Morris of Mt. Vernon, children Jim Morris and his wife Jamie of Fredericksburg, TX, Connie Hayes and her husband Bill of Lubbock, TX, and Bob Morris and his wife Vicki of McKinney, TX. She was blessed with four grandchildren and their families - Kyle Morris and his wife, Reagan, and great grandchild, Blake, of McKinney, TX, Nathan Morris and his wife, Andriana of Melissa, TX, Lauren Moore and her husband, Jason, of Allen, TX, and Ben Hayes of Lubbock, TX.  She is also survived by her sister, Sue Adams and her husband, Omer of Lindale, TX, and many nieces and nephews.
 Pat was active in the community and a member of First Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for many years.  She loved to play the piano and enjoyed a game of bridge with her friends, and loved her family above all.  We will all miss her welcoming smile and caring touch for everyone that she came in contact with.
 The family extends a special thanks to the folks at Mission Manor who provided considerate care for Pat, and by extension, her loved ones, for many years. Thanks also to the doctors and staff of the Mount Vernon hospital for their excellent care and support for the family during Pat’s last days.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home on Sunday, July 13th at 5 pm.  A private graveside service for the family will be held on Monday, July 14th.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org or to Allen Community Outreach at www.acocares.org are suggested and appreciated.
