Funeral services for Michael Patrick French, age 67 of Mount Pleasant, were Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel. Burial followed at the East New Hope Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
Mr. French was born May 24, 1947 in Pittsburg, Texas to Harrison Morton and Vivian Earl (Dickson) French. He was of the Methodist faith and a self employed master plumber. He served his country during Vietnam in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Teresa Perren; brothers, Billy Gene and William Henry “Hank” French; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Imer D. Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Florence Newman French of Mount Pleasant; son, James French of Longview; daughters, Patricia Attawy and husband, Kenneth, of Pittsburg, and Alicia Jones and husband, Chris, of Mount Pleasant; brothers, H.M. “Sonny” French and wife, Leona, of New Boston, Wayne French and wife, Barbara, of Hooks, and Jerome French of Pittsburg; sisters, Vicki Sullivan of Mount Pleasant, and Kathleen French of Flatonia; brothers-in-law, Leroy Newman and wife, Carol, of Center, James Newman and wife, Susan, of Mount Pleasant, and Junior Newman of New Braunsfels; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Leroy of Mount Pleasant, Carolyn Newman of Gladewater, Marlene Morris and Marie Scott, both of Odessa; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
