A Celebration of Life for Justin Rex Allen, age 30 of Arlington will be Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. at the First Methodist Church, Mount Vernon with Justin’s uncle, Randy Sinclair officiating.
Mr. Allen was born July 4, 1983 in Dallas, to Clay and Cheryl Allen of Tyler.
He grew up in Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2001. After graduating high school, he was sponsored by the Mount Vernon Rotary Club and became an exchange student where he began his studies in Gravelines, France. Mr. Allen went on to study languages in Paris, France, Barcelona, Spain, Beijing, China and Cuernavaca, Mexico. While in China, he taught English to a Chinese child. On completing his language studies, he traveled to Florence, Italy where he studied fashion design for two and a half years.
Mr. Allen returned to the U. S. and moved to New York City. He resided there until November 2011 when he was stricken with mental illness and he returned to Texas. While battling his illness, he lived in Lindale, Mount Vernon, Longview, and Arlington.
Mr. Allen died July 3, 2014 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his mother Cheryl Allen of Mount Vernon, maternal grandfather Rex Sinclair of Mount Vernon, and paternal grandmother Betty Allen Dunn of Gladewater.
Mr. Allen is survived by his father Clay Allen and partner Kelly Miller of Lindale, his brother Chase Allen and fiancé, Kelsey Mullins, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and grandmother Fay Sinclair of Mount Vernon. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins and many friends around the globe.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Mount Vernon High School Class of 2001.
