Ben Morris

Ben Warren Morris, age 84 of Greenville, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017 at Park Haven Nursing Home in Greenville after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was a previous long time resident of Mount Vernon.
Mr. Morris was born June 18, 1933 in Nevada, Tex. to Richard Herman and Evelyn Stinebaugh Morris. Following high school, he served in the Texas National Guard.
He married Mildred Patricia Blevins, on July 29, 1951 in Gainesville, Tex. They spent the next 63 years raising a family. She preceded him in death July 8, 2014.
Mr. Morris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. He worked in electronic sales for much of his life and was the owner and operator of Western Auto in Mount Vernon. He also drove a school bus for Mount Vernon ISD for 19 years.
He was the President of the Quarterback Club and a longtime member of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club.
He is survived by two sons, James W. Morris, and wife Jamie, of Fredericksburg, Tex. and Robert L. Morris, and wife Vicki, of McKinney, Tex.; by one daughter, Connie Sue Hayes, and husband Bill, of Lubbock; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Sid R. Morris, and wife June, of Garland; and by a host of other relatives and very special friends.
Memorial services will be set at a later date.
