Funeral services for Dorothy Carrell of Mount Vernon were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Dalton Graves and Chris Vidacovich officiating.
Mrs. Carrell was born on Jan. 19, 1928 in the Lakeview Community to Jesse and Mahaska Coe. She went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Sept. 23, 2010. She was 82 years old.
She is survived by one son, Loran Carrell and wife, Anita, of Nevada, Tex, a grandson, Shawn Carrell and wife, Robin, of White Oak; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Nicholas Carrell of White Oak; a sister, Gerri Holifield and her husband, Bill, of Plano; and a brother, Lovice Coe of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Harvey Carrell, a son, Cary Carrell, and a sister, Hortense Cox.
She was a treasure, a true blessing to everyone who knew her, always a servant for Christ - a beautiful and compassionate mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Pallbearers were Perry Hollifield, Ronnie Hollifield, Paul Majors, Richard Rutledge, Gary Cox, and Martin McCormick.
