Funeral services for Joseph Robert “Joe” Moore, age 72 of Scroggins, were at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 at the Welcome Home Baptist Church in Winnsboro. Burial was in the Cypress Cemetery with Rev. Jim Barksdale and Rev. Kenneth Goodson officiating.
Mr. Moore was born Nov. 14, 1938 in Hopkins County to William Howard Moore and Olive Beatrice Poore Moore. He was a retired machinist with Rockwell International and served in the United States Army.
He died Friday, Feb. 18 in Scroggins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-son, Jesse Johnson, two brothers, and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Moore of Scroggins; three sons, Joe Moore, Jr. of Scroggins, Richard Johnson of Scroggins, and Robby Moore of White Oak; a sister, Pauline Johnson of Garland; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were James Ross, Richard Moss, Greg Calloway, Roy Figley, Carl Mathison, and Harold Patterson.
