Services for Alton “Ray” Brown, age 62 of Scroggins, were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the DFW National Cemetery at 2:15 p.m. today, Thursday, March 10, 2011.
Mr. Brown was born Oct. 5, 1948 in Deport to Eugene Brown and Ila Mae Harper Brown. He was a retired powder coater, a Baptist, and a member of the American Legion Post 243 in Mount Vernon.
He died Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Elaine Harris Brown and a grandson, William Barker.
He is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Marjorie and Andrew Jackson of Scroggins, Delana Barker and husband, Milton Wetzel of Winnsboro, and Kimberly and Jr. Barker of Talco; two brothers and their spouses, Bobby and Mary Brown of Mt. Pleasant and Gerald and Angie Brown of Leesburg; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Pat Blalock of Scroggins and Charlotte and Richard Day of New Boston; his grandchildren, Heather, Milton, Brittany, Brian, Christal, Courtney, Samantha, Tracey, Kerstin, Coty, Jackie, and Felicia; and a great-grandchild, Elaine Ray; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Brown, Jeff Brown, Chris Day, Ricky Krantz, Art Swanson, Michael Brown, Bobby Brown, Jr., and Chris Tillman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 243 in Mount Vernon and Michael Brazeal.
