Graveside services for Kathryn Woodruff Gaulden, age 88 of Mount Vernon, were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Larry Black officiating.
Mrs. Gaulden was born July 7, 1924 in Cooper to Eugene Eddins Woodruff and Pearl Brewster Woodruff. She received her bachelor of arts degree at the University of Houston in 1948 and worked at the Houston Public Library and taught at Spring Branch ISD in Houston. She and her husband, Glenn Gaulden, a pharmacist and World War II veteran, owned and operated Crescent Drug Store on the Mount Vernon city square for many years. She was a student of the Bible and attended the church of Christ in Mount Vernon.
She died Thursday, July 19 in Mount Vernon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, her sisters, Anna, Julia, Eugenia, Margaret, and Mary, and a brother, George Jefferson.
She is survived by her children, David Gaulden and Carol Bassham, both of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren, Shea and Mike Davis of Leander, Rachel Mott of Mount Vernon, and Brent Ellison of San Antonio; and two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Aubryn Davis.
