Funeral services for Rev. Jack D. Boyd, age 87 of Winnsboro, were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery in Purley.
Mr. Boyd was born Aug. 7, 1925 in Cooper to John Prince Boyd and Pearl Emma Dean Boyd. He served in the United States Army during World War II as a military policeman. He later graduated from the Westminster Bible College in Tehuacana, Tex.. He was an ordained minister with the Congregational Methodist Church, in addition to working as a mechanic. He later attended Hesibah Baptist Church outside of Winnsboro.
He died Saturday, Jan. 12. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine siblings, Ellen Hankins, Mexie Butler, Sallie Skidmore, John Prince Boyd, Jr., Princess Boyd Brock, Judith Worth Skidmore, Norma Ruth Coursey, Betty Ann Boyd, and an infant brother.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Imogene Hargis Boyd of Winnsboro; his sons and daughters-in-law, David Jack and Tracy Boyd of Pittsburg, Stephen Wesley and Melony Boyd of Scroggins; his daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Jean and Michael White of Gilmer, Judy and John Soules of Tyler, Jackie Lynn and Donnie Barrett of Pittsburg; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Scott Murphy, Matt Stricklin, Jackson Boyd, Jonathan Boyd, Mitchell Boyd, Andrew Linder, and alternate- Tom Posey.
