Funeral services for Zephyr Irene “Zip” Waddell, age 101 of Talco, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jason Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Talco Cemetery.
Mrs. Waddell was born Feb. 4, 1912, the 11th of 12 children, to Mr. and Mrs. L.O. Williams, near Ida, La., north of Shreveport. She and her husband, Alex, lived in Talco and owned Waddell’s Grocery for almost 30 years. She attended St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant and volunteered at Titus Regional Medical Center for 19 years after retirement.
She died Monday, March 4 in Mount Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, A. C. Waddell; her parents, and a son, Neil Waddell.
She is survived by two sons, David Waddell of Lake Fork and Chris Waddell of Coppell; four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
