Funeral services for Leon Nantz, age 66, of Mt. Vernon will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Tema officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Brooksey Crow, Sr., David Sanchez, Waymon Newsome, James Sinclair, Michael Reed, and Jerry Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Douwe Plantina, Bryan Porter, Rhea Collins, and Brooksey Crow, Jr. and Bryan Crow.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Harvey Funeral Home.
Leon was born on August 31, 1946 in Jacksboro, Texas the son of Elihew and Lola May Fain Nantz. He married Jewel Marie Butler in Oklahoma on April 17, 1963 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2011.
He served in the US Army and worked in trucking and ranching industry.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Sherry and Craig Johnson of Quitman, and Kim and Bodie Read of Aubrey; four granddaughters: Paige Stout and husband, Taylor; Maci Read, Neiman Johnson, and Cloyeé Johnson; and a sister, Sue Fussell of Ft. Worth.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, E.J. Nantz, and two sisters, Lavera Baudat and Betty Pearson.
