A Homeruns for the Hungry benefit softball tournament was conducted this weekend and raised $2,400 to support the summer mission projects by the youth at the First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon. The tournament was played at the MVISD sports fields.
“It was an amazing day! The Mount Vernon community has proven just how special it is once again. Local businesses and individuals jumped in from the beginning to ensure the success of the event,” Billy Wilson, event coordinator, said. “Tons of people volunteered their time to pull it off. We are very blessed.” High school baseball and softball players made up the majority of the team that won the benefit softball tourney last weekend.
